Couch
For long-distance couples

Long-distance date nights that don't feel like a call.

Video calls keep you in touch. They don't feel like a night together. The fix is doing something side by side: a film, a game, a dumb filter, the same takeout. Here's how to plan it so the evening feels like yours.

The short answer

What can long-distance couples do together online?

The best long-distance dates give you something to do together instead of just talking: watch the same film in sync, play a two-player game like Ludo or Truth or Dare, cook or order the same dinner, or study side by side. Couch puts all of that in one private, free video room for two.

How to

How to set up a date night on Couch

    Open a Movie Date room

Sign in with Google on couchspace.live and pick Movie Date. The room is yours to keep.

  2. 2

    Send the link

Paste it into WhatsApp or anywhere. Your partner taps it and knocks; you let them in.

  3. 3

    Share the film

On a desktop Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera or Arc, share the tab and tick share audio. They can watch from any browser, even a phone.

  4. 4

    Make it a ritual

Next week, open the same room. It's on your dashboard, with your time together counted up.

Tips that make the difference

  • Use headphones on the side that isn't sharing, so the film doesn't echo back.
  • Decide the film or show the day before. Scrolling together kills the mood.
  • Keep the same day each week. Something to look forward to matters more than the activity.
  • End with a plan for the next one, even if it's just which episode.

Good to know

  • Sharing a tab needs Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera or Arc on a desktop or laptop.
  • Joining, talking, watching and playing work in any browser, phones included.
  • Rooms hold two people. Anyone new has to knock first.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What's the best app for long-distance date nights?

Use one that lets you do something together, not just talk. Couch is built for two: a private video room where you can watch a shared browser tab in sync with sound, play ten built-in games, use face filters and save moments. It's free and runs in the browser.

How do long-distance couples watch movies together?

One person shares the browser tab that's playing the film, with its audio, and the other watches it live on the same call. On Couch you both see the film and each other's faces at once, so it feels like watching side by side.

Is Couch free for couples?

Yes. Couch is free. You sign in with Google and there's nothing to install.

Can someone else walk into our room?

No. A room holds two people, and anyone new has to knock. You decide who comes in.

Does it work if my partner is on a phone?

Yes. Your partner can join, talk and watch from any browser on a phone, tablet or laptop. Sharing the film needs a desktop Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera or Arc.

Are our calls recorded or stored?

No. Your audio, video and screen share connect directly between your two devices whenever possible, encrypted end to end. If a direct link can't be made, they go through our relay, still encrypted and never recorded. Chat messages aren't stored either, and the moments you snap stay on your own device.
